Burnet Media is an independent publishing house based in Cape Town that produces two imprints – Two Dogs and Mercury – as well as customised publishing projects. We place an emphasis on building close and interactive relationships with our authors and clients and, in doing so, produce interesting and innovative South African books.
Our aim is to produce four to six trade titles per year, including two or three flagship books. The latest are 50 People Who Stuffed Up South Africa and The Racist’s Guide To The People Of South Africa, which have sold 45,000 copies between them.
Burnet Media books are sold and marketed through Jacana Media, and distributed through On The Dot.

Two Dogs, launched in 2006, provides entertaining and irreverent reading for South African men and women. Over time the subject matter of this imprint has been refined to focus on current affairs, politics and social commentary, while the tone has remained humorous, irreverent and as politically incorrect as possible.

Mercury books is Burnet Media’s new imprint. As with Two Dogs, Mercury aims to produce entertaining South African books from excellent local writers. However, whereas Two Dogs maintains a relatively narrow focus, Mercury has a wider ambit, including edgy boundary-pushing fiction and a less restricted variety of non-fiction.
